Guatemalan Paintings Available for Purchase – Updated July 2021

Salvador Reanda, the painter of La Ultima Cena (The Last Supper), which hangs above the altar in the Gloria Dei sanctuary, and the owner of the Galeria Expresiones in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala, continues to make the gallery’s paintings available for sale and shipment to the U.S.

The Guatemalan economy, particularly around Lake Atitlan, has suffered badly from the loss of tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shops in Santiago Atitlan have been especially hard-hit. At this time a year ago, Mr. Reanda had sold only one painting since the start of the pandemic. In the past year, his only sales have been to Gloria Dei members and friends who have purchased works through the online catalog linked below.

The oil-on-canvas works sold by Galeria Expresiones reflect the faces, culture, and lives of the people of the Guatemalan highlands, people who have warmly welcomed Gloria Dei members into their midst for over 20 years. Mr. Reanda has recently made eleven new paintings available. They are numbered 57-67 in the catalog.
