Community
Gloria Dei is a vibrant part of the Highland Park neighborhood and St. Paul community. Sharing our gifts and talents with the local community only furthers our mission to be a caring, healing and welcoming community. Join us in these efforts!
Many of our Hunger and Housing Outreach programs also serve members of our community as well.
Gloria Dei has a partnership with Highland Park Elementary School, just blocks from the church. This local public school educates 400 students in grades K-5 and is made up of a very diverse student body. Over 50% of the children qualify for free or reduced lunch. During the year Gloria Dei hosts a number of drives to support the school.
Each year Gloria Dei decorates a Giving Tree with wish lists from local children and families who find themselves unable to afford Christmas gifts and sometimes even basic needs. Look for the tree during the season of Advent and select a tag to participate.
Every August in rain or shine, people from all around the state line up in the Gloria Dei parking lot to wait for the buses that will carry them to the Minnesota State Fair. Volunteers from our congregation serve these guests with a bottle of water and deliver the welcoming spirit of our community. Look for more information about this ministry in August.
