Gloria Dei celebrates that God has made a home for us! We long to build a community in which all people have access to safe and comfortable housing. Whether welcoming families during Project Home or swinging a hammer (... at nails!) during a Habitat for Humanity home build, there are opportunities big and small available to help with this important church outreach.

Room 99
Room 99 is Gloria Dei’s latest effort in its ministry to shelter those most in need. The Room 99 project extends Gloria Dei's decades-long ministries to immigrants and people experiencing homelessness by modifying an underused classroom through the addition of shower and clothes washing facilities and an upgrade to the current kitchenette. Renovations will begin in October to prepare that space in Room 99. You can support this ministry with a financial donation (or send a check to Gloria Dei, with “Room 99” in the memo line).

Project Home
In our mission statement, we proclaim: “By God’s grace, we are called to be a caring, healing and welcoming community who proclaim and celebrate the love of Jesus Christ, live as God’s servants and seek justice for all people.”

During Advent, the season of waiting and giving, Gloria Dei lives into our mission by opening our doors to homeless families in transition to long-term housing. Each December over 200 volunteers help us welcome overnight guests of Project Home. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we currently offer only financial support through our Second Offering. LSS Metro Homeless Youth Services
Gloria Dei supports Lutheran Social Services Metro Homeless Youth Services, which offers a continuum of holistic services to runaway, homeless, and street-dependent youth in the Twin Cities Metro Area. These services are committed to helping youth build on assets and strengths, and connecting them with caring, supportive adults. On the last Wednesday night of each month Gloria Dei youth prepare and deliver a dinner for youth at Safe House, an emergency shelter for youth ages 16-20 in St. Paul. And during the Christmas season Gloria Dei members purchase gifts for youth living at Rezek House, which offers transitional housing for homeless youth who are 16-21 years of age.

Habitat for Humanity
Each summer, Gloria Dei partners with Interfaith Builders, a coalition of Saint Paul churches and synagogues who have joined together to work with Habitat for Humanity to build safe, affordable homes for families in need. In addition to building homes, the group also builds relationships and understanding among parishioners from different faiths.

Gloria Dei members participate in these initiatives by volunteering time, providing financial support or sharing a meal. Contact the church office to learn more.
