Soul Food, a group that discusses books from a faith perspective, meets weekly during the school year from 9:30-11 a.m., on Wednesday mornings. We begin each week with a prayerful reading of the coming Sunday’s gospel text and prayer. Then, we discuss a few chapters from a book we’ve chosen to read together, including time for questions, Bible study and personal reflection. You’re welcome to come for all or any of the discussions. Your presence will make our conversation that much more meaningful.
We began discussing The Bible With and Without Jesus: How Jews and Christians Read the Same Stories Differently, by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Zvi Brettler, last year. Through the next several weeks, we’re reading and discussing chapters that we hadn’t yet covered. The authors challenge us to consider a Jewish perspective of ways to interpret Jesus’ message and invite us into new understandings. We would love to have you join the conversation.
